If you read Howard Davies's comments in Monday's Telegraph, it makes absolute sense that the extra runway should be at Heathrow. Gatwick is a hub mainly for tourists from Britain flying out whereas Heathrow mainly has incoming tourists and businessmen from all over the world, plus all the freight logistics are already in place at Heathrow. And don't forget all the thousands of people, who work at Heathrow, plus the new jobs that will be created - so there are many living in the area, who support this decision. It is always awful when there are Compulsory Purchase Orders on people's homes and I hope the owners get a fair deal, but we wouldn't have any infra structure, like any of the motorways, if hard decisions like that weren't taken. Take a look at the 'bigger picture' and this long-winded decision is definitely great for Britain all round.
