Oh well, if visiting Italy, you will go mad and fall in love with every single dish of our amazing cuisine. If I only had to pick 5, I would definitely recommend:
Pizza – we have the best pizza in the world
In Naples they have high and soft pizza, topped with fresh buffalo mozzarella, chopped tomatoes and basil. In Rome, pizza is thin and crispy, so light and delicious that you would eat 3 of them in a row.
Spaghetti – we have the best pasta in the world
You can’t leave Italy without trying first a generous portion of Spaghetti. The best ones are not overcooked and only dressed with fresh tomatoes, Parmigiano cheese and basil.
Fried zucchini blossoms – we have the best vegetables in the world
Oh yeah! Golden, light, crispy, delicious! In Italy, fried zucchini blossoms (or courgette flowers) are the non plus ultra of the authentic cuisine. Filled with ricotta cheese and often anchovies, they are perfect for a tasty aperitivo.
Gelato – we have the best ice-cream in the world
If you visit Italy, you’ll probably enjoy sunny days and good weather, so you’ll absolutely have a good excuse to try a giant icecream “cono”. And you should: our gelato is soooo gnummy!
Vino – we have the best wine in the world
Oh no, don’t even think about France. Italy’s got the best wine in the whole planet. From the Barolo, in the Langhe area in Piemonte, to the Chianti and Brunello di Montalcino made in Tuscany, from the Valpolicella and the Prosecco in Veneto, to the Sangiovese di Romagna, from the Montepulciano d’Abruzzo, to the Pinot Grigio, from the Amarone, up the Passito di Pantelleria, made in Sicily (my absolute favorite!).
